Haverhill October ye 4th 1784. The last Will and Testament of John Stewart of said
Haverhill in the County of Essex & Commonwealth of the Massachusetts Husbandman,
calling to mind the Mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men
once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, That is to say, ___
Imprimis I will and order that all those debts that I justly owe to any Person or Persons
together with my Funeral Charges & Expenses be well and truly paid by my Executor
here in named in convenient Season after my Decease. ___ Item My will is that Margaret
my dear & well beloved wife receive her dower out of my real Estate during Life, as the
Law directs, I also give to my said wife all the Household goods she brought to me when
she became my wife, I also give to my said wife one good Cow to be delivered to her by
my Executor out of my Stock ____ Item I give and bequeath to my son James Stewart
one Pound ten Shillings L.M. to be paid to him in one year after my decease, I also give
to my said son James my Fustian suit of Clothes & Beaver Hat which I order my
Executor to deliver to him at my decease, which sums is as I say his full part and portion
out of my estate with what he has heretofore received of me. ___ Item I give and
bequeath to my Daughter Mary the wife of David Gilmore twelve Pounds lawful money
which Sum I order my Executor to pay to her or heirs in five years after my Decease,
which Sum when paid is her Share and portion in my Estate with what she has heretofore
Recd. of me. _____ Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Susanna twelve Pounds
L.M., which Sum I order my Executor to pay to her in two years after my Decease, I also
give to my said Daughter Susanna the one Moiely of the Houshold Goods which was left
by her late Mother, which Moiely is now in my House and at her disposal when she sees
Cause, I also give to my Daughter Susanna a Priviledge in the Easterly part of my
dwelling house which may be necessary for her use and comfort during Life & remains
single if she requests it. ___ Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Sarah the wife of
James Miller twelve pounds LM, which I order my Executor to pay to her or heirs in five
years after my decease, I also give to my said Daughter Sarah my Loom and Tacking to
be delivered to her after the the [sic] decease of my wife, I also give to my said Daughter
Sarah one Cow at my Decease, which Sums is as I say her full portion in my Estate with
what she has heretofore recd. of me. ___ Item I give and bequeath to Anna my Daughter
twelve Pounds L.M. which I order my Executor to pay to her within five years after my
Decease which Sum is her part and portion in my Estate with what she has heretofore
received of me. ___ Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Margaret twelve pound
L.M. which sum I order my Executor to pay to her or heirs in five years after my decease,
which sum is her part & portion in my Estate with what she has heretofore recd. of me.
Lastly I give and bequeath to my son John Stewart & to his heirs and Assigns forever all
my Land & Buildings together with with [sic] all other of my Estate both real & personal
which I have not particularly disposed of in this my last Will & Testament, and I do
constitute, ordain, and appoint him the said John to be sole Executor of this my Will,
hereby utterly revoking, disallowing and dis annulling all former wills, Testaments,
Legacies, & Executors by me heretofore named or made & ratifying this & no other to be
my last Will & Testament. In Testimony hereof I do hereunto set my Hand & seal the day
