In the name of God amen, I Humphrey Woodbury, Snr. Of the town of Beverly
in ye County of Essex in New England yeoman, being though weake & infirm in
my body yet of perfect mind and memory being through Gods mercy of use of
my Reason & understanding Doe make ordai n & have this fourth day of March
in ye year of our Lord one thousand six hundred eighty & five made
[frtgsnof & gordaimee?], this my last will & testament in manor & form as
follows [Imporm]I give & bequeath my soule unto God who gave it me, hoping
through ye death merito & [inter +efsion] of my Lord Jesus Christ to
receive ye free pardon of all my sins; & to inherit everlast ing life &
glory: And my Bod untol ye earth to be decently buried at ye [Eisthdsion]
of my Executrix here after named: & my good of life of thus
I Give unto my Loving Wife Elizabeth Woodbury the emprovement of my
dwelling house & Barn ; Orchard: homestead Great pasture & all my Land &
Medow Therunto belonging (except what is herafter in this my will excepted)
& alsoe I Give unto my wife all of my Movable estate consisting in Money,
Goods or Chatells & within Doores or without: She to have emprovement of sd
housing & lands for & During ye term of her natural Life only: except she
shall have nesecity of farther maintenance & of God then of God give her
Absolute power to sell two Acres of ye Land aforesaid: foe yt ye Remainder
of ye said Homestead be not endamaged thereby in any considerable respect
Item I Give unto my son Richard Woodbury During his Mother's Lifetime that
parcel of Land called the Midle pasture containing eleven acres or there
abouts: Lying against ye generall fence on ye south side of it & against ye
Comon ye west side of it & ye orchard which ye sd Richard planted being
between sd middle pasture and my barn: to emprove ye sd Lands during his
mothers Life: And alsoe I give unto my sd Son Rich ard & to his heires for
ever at his Mothers decease ye Said orchard aforementioned & alsoe ye
dwelling house bard: Homestead: great pasture & all other ye apurtenantes
in any wife thereunto belonging : or in any wife pertaining i Sd Richard
Woodbury paing ye sum of ten pounds unto my son Thomas for his Legacy:
Item I Give unto my Son Thomas Woodbury the Lott whereupon his house now
standth: A certain Stripp of Land: lying lying at ye head of ye Sd Lot both
Sd parcels of Land being already in his poscession and alsoe I give more to
my Sd Son Thomas ye sum of ten pound aforsd in good pay: to Sd paid unto
him by my son Richard within three years after my w(if?)es decease: & alsoe
my half acre of Land in Salem = Lying against Waters his fense buting
against ye rood wch comes from winter Island
Item I give to my Son John Woodbury that Land fourty acre Lott which my Sd
Son now Dwelleth upon
Item I Give unto my Son Isaac Woodbury ye Lott of mine which he now Dwels
upon & all my Land wch he now hath in his poscession & Alsoe at his mothers
decease yt halfe of ye Sd Midle pasture on ye north side
Item I Give unto my Son William Woodbury ye other halfe of Sd Midle pasture
on ye South: with ye home Lott wherupon Said Williams house standeth
joining to Sd pasture bounded on ye north with my orchard; on ye Southeast
by ye Land of John Solace one corner reachim to ye Land of Mr. Hale being
now in his poscession
Item I Give unto my Son Humphrey Woodbury my ten Acre Lot which is now let
out to Jno Drinker & alsoe a piece of Swampe Lying at ye head of Sd Lot
being in my Sd Sons poscession already
Item I Give unto my daughter Susana [?]eny All my Land at Bradford yt I
bought for her being about fifty acres of upland & three acres of medow:
during her Life: & afterward to her husband & his heires except he Doe
otherwise dispose of it
Item I Give unto my Daughter Christian The wife of John Trask my two acres
of medow ground near Longham: [Djom] ing eaftward to ye meadon yt was Capt
Lawthrops: which it now in my Said Son twake poscesion
Item I Give unto my daughter Elizabeth ye wife of John Walker ten
schillings; (having given her a good portion already)
Item I give unto my two grandchildren Sarah & Unice Walker A certain house
of mine now rented by Humphrey Howell and two acres of Land therto
adjoining bounded South & west by common to be so laid out as to leave A
sufficient high way out of ye great pasture into ye Comon lan[_] On Sd
house & ye Acres Equally between Sd Grandchildren & if one of them die ye
Survivor to have ye whole [_?] if both die in nonage then to my own heirs:
& in ye meand time my Loving wife to have ye use of ye Same Whom I die [_
]erby make my true & lawfull executrix & I Degire my Loving friende Mr John
Hald My brother S?jean Woodbury & Brother Cornelius Baker to be overseers &
asistant to my executrix for performance herof & Doe disanull any former or
other will of mine & do Ratife & confirm this my Last will & testament in
witness when of J Rare set herunto my hand & seale ye day & year first
abovmentioned Signed Sealed & declared to Sd his Last will in ye presence
of us

names as witnesses there unto this 11th day of October 1686
